Okeechobee County Divorce Records

Divorce actions in Okeechobee County are litigated in the Okeechobee County Circuit Court. These domestic relations proceedings seek to end a marital union between two individuals. There exist varying reasons why a spouse would initiate a divorce filing in Okeechobee County, but Florida functions strictly as a "no-fault" state, requiring no explanation other than that the marriage is irretrievably broken due to "irreconcilable differences." From these divorce proceedings arise the divorce court records (or simply, divorce records), which document all motions, events, and filings connected to the case.

Under Florida Rule of General Practice and Judicial Administration 2.420, divorce records are presumed public, but certain restrictions limit information accessible remotely. So, while anyone can access the Okeechobee County Clerk of Circuit Court and Comptroller's Online Court Records Search portal for divorce case details, the actual documentation filed for such cases cannot be viewed online under Florida AOSC 18-16 and F.S. 28.2221(5)(a).

Those who wish to review a divorce case document can email the Clerk's Office at records@myokeeclerk.com to request a copy, or they may order copies through the Clerk's E-Certify Portal. A case party's name, document title, or case number is required to locate a record. Standard copies generally cost $1 per page, and certification costs $2 per instrument. The Clerk's physical office can also be visited in person to request copies.
